Health and Safety Policy
It is the policy of Calahans Services UK Limited, so far as is reasonably practicable, to ensure that responsibilities for health and safety are properly assigned, accepted and fulfilled at all levels of the company.
All practicable steps will be taken to safeguard the health, safety and welfare of employees and others who may be affected by the company’s operations and activities.
Calahans Services UK Limited supplies specialised industrial service operatives for long- and short-term contracts. The directors regard the promotion of effective health and safety measures, alongside appropriate programmes for maintaining a healthy working environment, as a shared objective for management and employees at every level.
It is therefore the company’s policy to do everything reasonably practicable to prevent personal injury and damage to property, and to protect employees and members of the public from foreseeable workplace hazards.

- To take reasonable steps to protect their own health and safety and that of other people who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.

Review and improvement
The company is committed to complying with legislative and industry requirements as a minimum standard. We will apply our health and safety efforts towards achieving zero accidents, with our systems continually reviewed and updated.
An executive safety committee reviews and oversees the company’s safety policy. An annual review procedure, monitored at board level, helps ensure that the policies and general procedures contained within it are properly implemented and maintained.

These measures may include pre-employment screening, post-incident testing and unannounced random drug and alcohol screening.
The company will provide an appropriate approach to encourage those seeking help or guidance in overcoming alcohol- or drug-related problems, provided assistance is sought before the person is selected for random testing.

The company will not knowingly employ or retain, directly or indirectly, an individual who has been justifiably dismissed by an employer for drug- or alcohol-related offences within the previous 12 months. After 12 months, satisfactory evidence of reform may be required, and the individual must accept the possibility of being retested at any time.
Suitable action, usually dismissal or termination of contract, may be taken against anyone who tests positive for alcohol or drugs in breach of this policy.
Any individual who tests positive following a drug or alcohol test will be immediately suspended from the work in which they are engaged, pending a full investigation.
